About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate program laboratories and assist instructors in the operation of lab areas and equipment to facilitate student learning.
- Prepare and organize materials and equipment needed for laboratory and work site activities.
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies, contact vendors for purchases, and initiate requisitions.
- Establish maintenance schedules, repair equipment, or arrange for professional repairs.
- Train instructors and students on the proper use of laboratory equipment and the safe handling and disposal of chemicals.
- Monitor and update SDS information and coordinate chemical disposal with the Physical Plant Safety Officer.
- Set up, monitor, and correct practical examinations and reports.
- Provide instruction on an individualized or small group basis and substitute or adjunct teach as needed.
Requirements
- Completion of an apprenticeship program, associate’s degree, diploma, or related technical training in manufacturing, engineering, trades, or transportation fields.
- Three years of work experience in a career and/or technical occupation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform materials estimates.
- Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with current software applications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with diverse individuals.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 100 lbs and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment and processes associated with career and technical education.
