About the role
About the Company
Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. We are building the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world, powered by a deep software and hardware stack that reverse-engineers lab instruments into API-controllable hardware.
Responsibilities
- Control lab instruments such as liquid handlers, robot arms, and plate readers programmatically in Python
- Build and integrate work cells to ensure multiple instruments work together as an orchestrated unit
- Bring new instruments online by reverse-engineering control protocols and building drivers
- Write software glue, including drivers, integrations, and small services, to connect hardware to the platform
- Partner with biologists to turn assays into reliable automated workflows
- Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and software failures in 24/7 production environments
- Improve throughput and reliability through better error recovery and smarter scheduling
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills with professional-grade Python
- Experience with lab automation tooling such as PyHamilton, PyLabRobot, or Opentrons
- Ability to write maintainable code for drivers, integrations, and services
- Maker and hacker attitude with a drive to take systems apart and rebuild them
- Strong debugging instincts across software, firmware, electronics, and mechanics
- Ability to work independently and act as a self-starter
- Proficiency using AI coding agents in your development workflow
- Willingness to work on-site in Lausanne to build physical systems
