Lab and Center Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain hypervisor deployments including VMware vSphere, KVM, and Proxmox
• Design and execute infrastructure automation pipelines using Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, Python, or Bash
• Manage server operating systems including Windows Server, RHEL, and Ubuntu
• Implement security controls and documentation to support SOC 2 compliance
• Perform physical hardware installations including rack and stack, cabling, and data center maintenance
• Execute hardware lifecycle tasks such as server, storage, and network replacements
• Monitor data center operations including power, cooling, and capacity utilization
• Maintain asset inventory, runbooks, and change records
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to plan lab capacity and onboard workloads
• Evaluate emerging technologies like GPU infrastructure and high-density cooling

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of experience in data center operations, lab infrastructure, or systems engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on VMware vSphere administration (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX)
• 3+ years of scripting and automation experience (PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, Bash, or Ansible)
• 2+ years of experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
• 1+ years of experience with Cloud Platforms including AWS
• Experience managing Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments
• Demonstrated experience with physical data center operations and hardware lifecycle management
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and security frameworks like SOC 2
• CS/IT degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware VCP-DCV, CCNA, CCNP Data Center, or CompTIA A+ certifications
• Experience with KVM or Proxmox hypervisors
• Exposure to Azure or GCP and hybrid cloud integration
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control
• Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Jira
• Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or GPU-accelerated servers
• Knowledge of direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems
• Experience with monitoring platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
