About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operational needs for departmental laboratories and workshops
  • Manage and operate high-precision isotope ratio instruments, including mass spectrometers and ICP-MS
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate routine maintenance
  • Develop and implement laboratory protocols, manuals, and quality assurance/quality control procedures
  • Train students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty on instrument operation, cleanroom techniques, and safety protocols
  • Manage lab accounts, including inventory control, ordering, and resupply
  • Coordinate equipment use and resource scheduling with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Earth Sciences or a related discipline
  • Five years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-precision isotope ratio instruments
  • Proven experience managing instrumental labs and trace-metal cleanroom facilities
  • Experience training diverse lab users on technical methods and safety procedures
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality control for high-precision analyses and cleanroom techniques
  • Experience managing lab finances, inventory, and administrative documentation
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. specializing in Geochemistry
