About the Company

West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science (WMAES) is part of the Choice Schools Community. WMAES utilizes 62 acres of outdoor classrooms, including gardens, nature trails, forests, wetlands, and prairies, to provide an experiential learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Execute provided lesson plans to ensure academic progress and student engagement
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment
• Oversee student behavior in class, between classes, and during lunch periods
• Implement the regular teacher's discipline plan and school routines
• Plan appropriate activities when lesson plans do not cover the full class period
• Motivate students to achieve their highest potential through feedback and participation
• Use technology effectively for instruction and administrative tasks
• Ensure the safe use of instructional facilities and equipment

Requirements

• Minimum of 60 college credits
• Demonstrated competence working with students
• Computer literacy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Comfort working in an outdoor setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate
