About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise, guide, and ensure the safety, security, and well-being of juveniles in custody
- Conduct intake, booking, and recordkeeping for detained juveniles
- Respond to emergencies and utilize de-escalation techniques to manage tense situations
- Monitor daily youth activities, including recreation, hygiene, and school programs
- Maintain facility integrity through regular security checks and supervision of visitors
- Foster a positive, respectful environment for youth and staff
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in criminal justice, social/behavioral sciences, or a closely related field (or equivalent post-secondary education)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass the Juvenile Corrections Academy Physical Ability Test (PAT)
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including days, swings, graves, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to pass comprehensive pre-employment background and reference checks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in justice, counseling, social services, or teaching roles
- Experience serving diverse populations from various cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
