Juvenile Counselor Trainee

Responsibilities

• Provide care, supervision, and security for adolescents in the Juvenile Detention or Dependent Shelter programs
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to aid in social development and behavioral management
• Monitor resident activities, including work, recreational, and educational assignments, to ensure safety and security
• Prepare daily observation reports and summaries regarding the conduct and adjustment of youth for the Juvenile Court
• Manage medication records and dispense medication in accordance with physician instructions
• Collaborate with families, caseworkers, law enforcement, and mental health professionals to support case management
• Implement appropriate discipline and use established behavior modification programs to encourage pro-social behavior
• Assist with classroom behavior management and coordinate with schoolteachers

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences, an Associate's Degree, or a minimum of 60 college credits
• At least 1 year of experience working with adolescents
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to obtain Safe Crisis Management (SCM) certification
• Ability to pass Pennsylvania Criminal and Child Abuse Clearances and FBI fingerprint clearance
