Juvenile Corrections Officer

Responsibilities

• Perform activities related to the receipt, booking, custody, and care of juveniles under the jurisdiction of the Court
• Ensure the fair and reasonable treatment of inmates while maintaining proper discipline
• Follow established policies, procedures, and operating practices of the Youth Services Center
• Respond to abnormal facility incidents or situations as required
• Work under the direction of higher-level staff until proficiency in specific policies and procedures is demonstrated

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED Certificate required
• Ability to obtain Washington State Juvenile Corrections Personnel Academy Certification within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to complete the required Juvenile Corrections Officer Disqualifiers form

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree (AA) in a related field
• Previous experience in juvenile detention or a related field
