About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and supervision to residents to ensure emotional, psychological, and physical needs are met
  • Monitor resident activities, curfews, and security cameras to maintain a safe residential environment
  • Perform regular facility checks, including wellness checks, room checks, and security rounds
  • Document daily activities, resident behaviors, and incidents in logbooks and incident reports
  • Assist in connecting clients with community health supports and resources
  • Prepare and present shift exchanges to ensure consistency in care and information sharing
  • Administer medication to residents and respond to medical emergencies as required
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow all program policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Corrections, Social Justice, Addictions, or a related field
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with provincial or federal clientele
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • First Aid/CPR and Mental Health First Aid certifications
  • Ability to pass CSC Personnel Screening, including Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs and walk up three flights of stairs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within the field of Mental Health and Addictions
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Care, De-escalation, or Narcan/Naloxone administration
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Behaviour Based Model
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture
