Junior Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform railroad track inspection operations using measurement tools and electronics troubleshooting
• Interpret railroad documents to derive train speed information
• Review and analyze track measurement data for reporting
• Operate hi-rail commercial motor vehicles
• Maintain rail survey cars and hi-rail vehicles
• Perform housekeeping duties for safety and sanitation aboard survey vehicles

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical fields, or a Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of experience
• Experience reading electrical or electronic schematics and wiring diagrams
• Experience conducting equipment and machinery inspections and maintenance
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows OS
• Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Commercial Driver Medical Certification
• Ability to travel for 3 weeks of continuous travel followed by 1 week off
• Proficiency with tape measures and mathematical fraction measurements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the railroad industry
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or diesel engine mechanics
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Welding, fabrication, soldering, or cable assembly skills
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B or greater)
• CPR/First Aid certifications
