Junior Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs of rail vehicle sub-systems including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and optical systems
• Complete installations, upgrades, inspections, repairs, and calibrations of measurement systems
• Coordinate with design engineering for failure analysis, root cause analysis, and product improvement
• Analyze and repair mechanical and electrical components
• Communicate with work groups, report on actions taken, and complete technical reports
• Use and update drawings and diagrams for system repairs and builds

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or welding/fabrication fields
• Ability to read schematics and diagrams
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
• Competency with electronic test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
• Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license
• Ability to travel at least 25% per month
• Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces or inclement weather

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school degree or certificate
• Welding and metal fabrication skills (plasma, MIG, TIG, ARC)
• Diesel engine, hydraulics, or pneumatics maintenance expertise
• Experience with air brake systems or optical/inertial sensors
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• Experience with Linux or QNX operating systems
• CDL or CPR/First Aid certifications
