Junior Geoscientist (Geochemistry/Water Quality)

Responsibilities

• Assist with metal leaching/acid rock drainage (ARD/ML) assessment and water quality monitoring field programs
• Conduct rock, soil, seepage, groundwater, and surface water sampling programs
• Compile, organize, and perform QA/QC on large geochemical and water quality datasets
• Support geochemistry and water quality assessments, including interpretation of static and kinetic test data
• Contribute to geochemical modelling using tools such as PHREEQC, Excel, Geochemist Workbench, or GoldSim
• Prepare technical memoranda, figures, tables, and sections of reports for client deliverables
• Coordinate with commercial laboratories regarding sample submission and analytical programs
• Travel periodically to project sites for field assignments in urban and remote locations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geochemistry, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline
• 1–3 years of direct experience in geochemistry, preferably in mining or environmental consulting
• Registered as a G.I.T. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligibility to register
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field assignments
• Working knowledge of ARD/ML concepts and water quality assessment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with R statistical programming
• Experience with geochemical modelling software
• Advanced degree in a relevant scientific field
