Junior Dialysis Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and perform safety checks on hemodialysis machines
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by law
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming, including ultrafiltration goals
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting equipment and treatment areas
• Document accurate and timely treatment data, vital signs, and progress notes in clinical applications
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Assist in infection control practices and support patient adherence to safety protocols

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs) and prolonged standing

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
