Junior Construction Solicitor

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on construction-related matters
• Support bids and tendering teams on contractual considerations
• Review, summarise, and draft construction contracts and supply chain agreements
• Advise on standard form construction contracts including JCT and NEC
• Prepare contract risk assessments and mitigation strategies
• Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution processes
• Collaborate with commercial, project management, and operational teams
• Develop and deliver legal training to internal stakeholders
• Maintain contract templates and legal guidance materials
• Support corporate governance, insurance, and regulatory compliance

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 1–3 years PQE
• Experience in construction law (private practice or in-house)
• Proficiency with JCT and NEC contracts
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-legal colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

• In-house legal experience
• Understanding of health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations
• Familiarity with procurement processes and public sector frameworks
• Knowledge of construction adjudication and dispute resolution
• Knowledge of the social housing sector
