About the role
Responsibilities
- Execute the installation of electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, and fixtures in industrial facilities and infrastructure projects.
- Install electrical panels, switchgear, control systems, and distribution boards to regulate power distribution.
- Install and maintain electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, and lighting systems.
- Establish power distribution networks through cable laying and transformer installation.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and rectification of faulty electrical systems to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), lockout-tagout procedures, and safety protocols.
- Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini hoes, manlifts, and zoombooms.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical training to Electrical Apprentices.
Requirements
- Valid and recognized Journeyman Electrician Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a PSE/Electrician, including at least 2 years of substation experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Utility Code (E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules.
- Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work comfortably at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites and work out of town.
- Ability to meet pre-access drug and alcohol testing requirements.
