About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, upgrading, and installation of high-voltage electrical equipment in substations ranging from 13.8kV to 500kV
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and relays
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to plan layouts and wiring
- Inspect electrical systems and components to identify defects and ensure code compliance
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to Electrician Apprentices
- Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini hoes, manlifts, and zoombooms
- Lead the installation and planning of ground grids, power system equipment assembly, and cabling
- Maintain accurate test and maintenance reports for high voltage equipment
Requirements
- Valid Power Systems Electrician Journeyperson or Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical work experience, including at least 2 years in a substation environment
- Thorough knowledge of the Alberta Electrical Utility Code (A.E.U.C) and OHS rules
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work comfortably at heights and in adverse weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to remote sites and work out of town
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol, and criminal background checks
