About the role

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and test control systems and life/safety monitoring systems to diagnose faults and resolve breakdowns
  • Repair, maintain, calibrate, adjust, and install measuring and control instrumentation
  • Wire up control panels and set up pneumatic control logics using engineering drawings
  • Install new Building Automation System (BAS) instrumentation equipment on existing running systems
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on control equipment, including instrument replacement
  • Update DDC/DCS programs based on sequence narratives
  • Collaborate with Building Operating Engineers to optimize temperature and humidity controls in buildings and experimental labs
  • Maintain or revise maintenance procedures for newly installed equipment and monitoring instruments

Requirements

  • Diploma from a recognized Ontario technical college in Instrumentation Technician or Building Environmental systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in programming, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of DDC and Building automation control systems
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting circuit and control diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Experience with pneumatic, electromechanical, electronic, and programmable controllers related to building HVAC
  • Technical knowledge of Siemens (Apogee), Honeywell (ComfortPoint-EBI), and Johnson Controls (Metasys)
  • Ability to program and set up network control systems using functional block diagram (FBD), Statement Logic (STL), and Ladder logic (LL)
  • Membership in good standing with IBEW Local 353 or a willingness to join
  • Strong English communication skills (written and oral)
