Journeyman Truck Fleet Diesel Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and computer systems on vehicles
• Conduct repairs on tractors, trailers, lift gates, reefers, and yard goats
• Rebuild engines, transmissions, and components
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics and factory scan tools for diagnostics
• Perform R&R on truck components including axles, brakes, and steering
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts usage
• Adhere to safety protocols (LOTO) and environmental regulations
• Guide and train apprentices and junior mechanics

Requirements

• At least 5 years of diesel mechanic experience on Class 8 vehicles
• Knowledge of Freightliner, Isuzu, and Hino
• Experience with electronic controlled diesel engines and fleet environments
• Proficiency in diesel engines, liftgates, and refrigeration units
• Basic welding skills (TIG, MIG, and stick)
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals
• Possession of a professional mechanics toolbox
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Cummins and Detroit Certifications
• Reefer maintenance experience
• Class A or Class B Driver's License
