Journeyman Machinist

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and repair special products, including the building of prototypes
• Efficiently operate all standard machine tools
• Perform mathematical calculations required for setting up and machining parts
• Read technical drawings and use precision measuring instruments and hand tools
• Verify conformance of finished work pieces to exact specifications
• Assemble and disassemble precision parts and equipment
• Perform welding (TIG, MIG, stick, and gas), metal fabrication, and reverse engineering
• Design and build tooling, fixtures, dies, and cutting tools

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Four years of journeyman-level experience
• Strong mechanical and shop math skills
• Thorough knowledge of metallurgy and heat treating
• Ability to lift 35 lbs on occasion and stand for extended periods
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarization with computer technology
• Experience with various welding techniques (TIG, MIG, stick, and gas)
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
