Journeyman Lineworker

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, replace, and repair distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment.
• Perform overhead and underground construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
• Respond to and correct problems with the electrical distribution system during normal hours, after hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Review work orders to determine necessary materials and safely load equipment, poles, and wire coils onto trucks.
• Use hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, and brackets for installation.
• Work aerially from ladders, lift buckets, and pole-climbing tools to repair or replace equipment.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with all company safety procedures and practices.

Requirements

• Must pass the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST).
• Ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to climb utility poles and other structures and work at significant heights.
• Availability for call-out overtime, scheduled overtime, and overnight travel as needed.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and enclosed, dark areas.
• Ability to lift, carry, and pull heavy objects and operate machinery/vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of distribution line crew experience.
