About the role

Responsibilities

  • Safely build and repair high-voltage transmission lines and equipment
  • Review work orders, determine necessary materials, and load equipment
  • Assemble and install materials using hand tools while working aerially from ladders, lift buckets, and climbing tools
  • Climb transmission poles and structures up to 200 feet
  • Operate heavy construction machinery including skid steers, excavators, back hoes, and cranes
  • Communicate effectively with team members and mentor fellow crew members
  • Maintain regular attendance and strictly comply with all safety procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of certified Journeyman Lineman experience
  • Valid driver's license with a Class A CDL and at least one year of verifiable driving experience
  • Experience with transmission line construction and installation on voltages from 46kV to 500kV
  • Ability to climb structures up to 200 feet and work in overhead positions
  • Ability to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions, including day and night hours
  • Ability to pass the Construction and Skilled Trades Exam (CAST test) and a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to maintain a body weight at or below 300 pounds fully dressed in required safety gear

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on the Georgia Power system
  • Experience as a Distribution Lineman
  • Experience with energized transmission work
