Responsibilities

• Generating ideas for stories and features and following leads from news agencies, police, and the public
• Pitching ideas to chief editors
• Researching, verifying, and collating evidence using internet and archives
• Managing technical crews for location shoots, including sound and camera operators
• Providing directorial input and advising crews on filming
• Using portable digital video cameras and equipment to record material
• Producing complete packages for broadcast
• Preparing and presenting material 'on air' for pre-recorded and live pieces
• Identifying, briefing, and interviewing subjects
• Collaborating with editors to complete programs
• Developing local contacts and maintaining public relations
• Complying with media law and industry codes of conduct

Requirements

• University degree in journalism or a related field
• Previous experience in a similar position
• Fluency in English
• High level of journalistic skills and writing proficiency
• Ability to meet daily deadlines under stressful conditions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Crisis management skills
• High ethical standards
