About the role

Responsibilities

  • Update subscriber information including names, addresses, and payment methods
  • Record payments, generate invoices/receipts, and track book orders using FileMaker Pro
  • Complete bank deposit forms in Workday and process journal vouchers
  • Manage book distribution to reviewers and track overdue assessments
  • Communicate with publishers to order books for review
  • Assist in proofreading and editing outgoing correspondence and promotional materials
  • Update the BC Studies website and social media accounts
  • Perform internet research to identify potential contributors and promotional opportunities
  • Handle general inquiries and perform office tasks such as filing, mail sorting, and inventory management

Requirements

  • High School graduation
  • One year of related training and two years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Intermediate proficiency in FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Typing speed of at least 50 w.p.m.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UBC procedures and policies
  • Experience using Macintosh computers
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain organized record and filing systems
  • Experience in marketing, promoting, and selling products or services
