About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide confidential administrative support to Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSC)
- Prepare and track meeting minutes, inspections, and regulatory documentation
- Attend committee meetings and respond to queries on behalf of the employer regarding health and safety programs and policies
- Represent the University during regulatory visits related to JHSC operations
- Maintain meticulous records of confidential health and safety issues, including injury, illness, and absenteeism data
- Facilitate membership requests and certification training
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and collective agreements
- Develop and analyze Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) data and reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational hygiene, a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three years of administrative experience supporting health and safety activities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and excellent keyboarding skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply OHSA, organizational policies, and collective agreements to various situations
- Superior organizational, information management, and communication skills
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with strict adherence to protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a unionized organization
- Prior experience as an administrator supporting health and safety committees
- Experience working in a labour relations or human resources environment
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
- Occupational health and safety certificate
