Java and AWS Manager of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, oversight, and technical coaching for a team of software engineers.
• Lead teams to deliver scalable, high-performance engineering solutions with direct business impact.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define technical solutions.
• Design extensible and scalable systems while ensuring alignment with compliance and SLAs.
• Maintain high standards of operational excellence for production systems.
• Coach the team to effectively implement and leverage agile practices and CI/CD.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience with demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills.
• Hands-on coding experience in Java or Python.
• Experience with AWS services such as EKS, ECS, or Fargate.
• Knowledge of stream processing (Kinesis, Flink) or high-volume data engineering (Ray, Spark).
• Proven experience leading at least two scrum teams of technologists.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), CI/CD, and cloud-native practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with recommendation and personalization systems.
• Ability to work effectively at the code level.
• Strong soft skills, including stakeholder management, negotiation, and presentation.
