Janitor

Responsibilities

• Perform light cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting offices and furnishings
• Maintain facility cleanliness by emptying garbage and recycling receptacles and cleaning washrooms
• Clean and polish sinks, toilets, countertops, mirrors, and fixtures
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and restock hand sanitizers and washroom supplies
• Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, unblocking toilets, and tightening furniture screws
• Maintain external property by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks and entrances and performing basic lawn care
• Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies using WHMIS compliant labeling
• Adhere to all health and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for staff, volunteers, and clients
• Report workplace hazards, safety concerns, or major repair needs to the supervisor

Requirements

• Completion of Secondary School
• Up to 1 year of related experience in custodial or maintenance roles
• Knowledge of Health & Safety Standards
• Ability to lift and move up to 49 pounds
• Ability to perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, twisting, and occasional ladder work
• Strong sense of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail
