About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, focusing on stability, scalability, and security
- Perform patching, upgrades, and configuration management to keep systems current and compliant
- Manage authentication and access controls across Linux and integrated platforms
- Support and troubleshoot core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, VPN, SSH, and NFS
- Develop and maintain automation workflows to reduce manual work and improve consistency
- Monitor system performance, respond to incidents, and implement preventative measures
- Collaborate with different departments to meet technical requirements and support needs
- Test and evaluate new technology and document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator with a strong Linux focus
- Hands-on expertise with major Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
- Solid foundation in networking concepts and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms like VMware or KVM
- Experience with Linux authentication and access management (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, PAM)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Clear, collaborative communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by U.S. export regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Ansible
- Familiarity with identity management platforms such as FreeIPA or Active Directory integration
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Nagios)
