IT Systems Administrator - Linux

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, focusing on stability, scalability, and security
• Perform patching, upgrades, and configuration management to keep systems current and compliant
• Manage authentication and access controls across Linux and integrated platforms
• Support and troubleshoot core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, VPN, SSH, and NFS
• Develop and maintain automation workflows to reduce manual work and improve consistency
• Monitor system performance, respond to incidents, and implement preventative measures
• Collaborate with different departments to meet technical requirements and support needs
• Test and evaluate new technology and document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator with a strong Linux focus
• Hands-on expertise with major Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
• Solid foundation in networking concepts and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
• Proficiency with virtualization platforms like VMware or KVM
• Experience with Linux authentication and access management (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, PAM)
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Clear, collaborative communication skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by U.S. export regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Ansible
• Familiarity with identity management platforms such as FreeIPA or Active Directory integration
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Nagios)
