About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated technical and business process support for Technology Organization systems at Southern Power plants.
- Ensure the resiliency, effectiveness, and security of plant IT infrastructures through design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Contribute actively to Southern Power plant and Remote Operations Center (ROC) integration projects.
- Participate in a 7x24x365 on-call rotation and perform after-hours work as required.
- Support remote site data networks, telecommunications, firewalls, routers, and switches.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 3 years of relevant experience, OR 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Data Networking and Telecommunications (AVPN, LTE, BGP, IP stack, etc.).
- Ability to travel up to 50% and work in both office and industrial plant settings.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for customers.
- Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders to install equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of plant Operational Technology (OT) systems and their interaction with IT systems.
- Experience with electric plant operations and technologies (Emergency Notification, Physical Security, Maximo, etc.).
- Enhanced knowledge of Cybersecurity.
- Experience with physical security systems such as CCure or Avigilon.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Visio).
