IT Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications supporting upstream, midstream, or downstream operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated technical solutions
• Develop and manage APIs, backend services, and data pipelines for real-time and historical data processing
• Support integration of IT systems with operational technologies (OT), including SCADA and industrial control systems
• Analyze large datasets to improve operational performance and decision-making
• Ensure system reliability, performance optimization, and cybersecurity compliance
• Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving production issues
• Contribute to system architecture design and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Software Engineer
• Prior experience working within the oil and gas or energy sector
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C#, or similar
• Experience with cloud platforms, databases, and distributed systems
• Familiarity with real-time data systems, automation, or industrial integrations
• Understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies
• Fluent in Dutch and English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SCADA systems, IoT platforms, or industrial data systems
• Knowledge of data engineering, ETL processes, or time-series data management
• Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams
