IT Security & Compliance Manager

About the Company

fab2 is an early-stage hardware startup that designs and manufactures the hardware and software needed to make chips. Founded by industry leaders Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller, the team builds the fabs, tools, and components themselves.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end change management for security and IT systems
• Develop foundational operational security policies and data loss prevention strategies
• Design and implement scalable processes for permissions management, identity access, and SaaS governance
• Lead compliance readiness and audit preparation for frameworks like EAR, ITAR, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and SOC 2
• Manage the full employee device and access lifecycle and provide IT support
• Evaluate new software and workflows to remediate security and compliance gaps

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience in IT operations, security operations, systems governance, or GRC
• Experience building operational processes and documentation from scratch
• Familiarity with export control and government compliance (EAR, ITAR, NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, or FedRAMP)
• Strong understanding of IAM, permissions auditing, SaaS governance, and endpoint management
• Proficiency with IAM, MDM, or SaaS administration platforms
• Ability to operate independently in highly ambiguous environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a foundational security or IT hire at a startup
• Experience supporting regulated, government-adjacent, or defense technology environments
