IT Network Infrastructure Specialist

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and implement local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols
• Conduct fiber optic detailed network design for middle mile and last mile fiber-based networks
• Conduct project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons
• Assist in job walks and in determining needs for new installations and redesigns
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to develop proper procedures for layer 1 infrastructure
• Monitor and maintain inventory of replacement hardware, materials, and tools
• Process, track and execute work orders and support tickets
• Maintain documentation of job status, revisions, and material flow
• Support infrastructure in land and sea based environments

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 3+ years of experience in OSP and/or ISP fiber detailed design
• Experience with wired and wireless voice intercom communication systems
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass Air Force background check
• Willingness to travel approximately 20%
• Availability for overtime and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, technical, or mechanical field
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols
• 3+ years of experience in construction techniques and use of power/hand tools
• Experience in space exploration, aviation, or military industries
• Ability to read wiring schematics and construction blueprints
