About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end software asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, utilization tracking, and retirement.
- Maintain authoritative records of software entitlements across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Serve as the primary liaison with resellers, distributors, and OEM vendors to manage enterprise agreements (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, SAP).
- Lead preparation and response for vendor audits and internal compliance reviews to minimize financial risk.
- Identify and execute cost optimization opportunities through license usage analysis and subscription management.
- Develop executive-level dashboards regarding license utilization, compliance posture, and cost trends.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to enhance SAM capabilities and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), ITAM, or software licensing.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing IT or SAM functions and teams.
- Strong expertise in enterprise software licensing models (SaaS, subscription, and perpetual).
- Hands-on experience with SAM tools, specifically ServiceNow SAM Pro.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
- Proven ability to negotiate vendor contracts and manage complex licensing agreements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in government contracting or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and various audit/compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing cloud licensing and cost optimization for Azure, AWS, or other SaaS platforms.
- Experience with financial systems such as Costpoint.
