About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal Portfolio Manager with IT project intake, monitoring ongoing projects to ensure they meet business objectives, schedules, and budgets
  • Support IT system readiness for major laboratory programs and product rollouts
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to prepare laboratories for new IT infrastructure or software
  • Work with laboratory stakeholders to assess current IT applications and identify opportunities to streamline processes
  • Assist in the deployment, testing, and validation of new IT applications for laboratory workflows
  • Contribute to documentation, reporting, and communication regarding project status, risks, and milestones
  • Collaborate with clinical and production laboratory teams to ensure alignment on requirements

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel for data analysis (formulas, pivot tables, charts)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate processes and systems
  • Familiarity with project management or task-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana, or ServiceNow)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to work on-site in Madison, WI, for the duration of the 12-week internship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or research experience in IT, laboratory operations, or a related field
  • Exposure to project management practices such as tracking deliverables and budgets
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
  • Interest in Lab Information Systems (LIS) or healthcare technology
  • Awareness of regulated environments and data integrity requirements
