IT Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier II level technical support for infrastructure, hardware, and software to students, faculty, and staff.
• Troubleshoot and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, copiers, AV systems, and high-definition IP video conferencing.
• Perform image deployment on computer labs and faculty/staff devices in coordination with Computing Services.
• Assist with the onboarding process for new staff and faculty to ensure access to necessary systems and telephony.
• Resolve end-user issues reported through the university ticketing system.
• Monitor and maintain computer labs to ensure all equipment is functioning as specified.
• Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common connectivity problems.
• Train and oversee Student IT assistants to build their Tier I support knowledge base.
• Execute assigned short-term or long-term projects using the SAMI Project Management tool.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience and/or technical certification training.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support.
• Proficiency with Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Mandatory experience with TCP/IP networking.
• Good knowledge of Cisco IOS.
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills, including the ability to replace PC components.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call for emergencies.
• Valid Canadian residency or work permit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MS Active Directory clients.
• Linux command line experience.
• Experience working in a multicultural or distributed global learning environment.
