About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned technical staff, including performance management and professional development
- Oversee help desk operations, hardware, and networking for the Department of Pathology
- Coordinate IT operations and projects to support laboratory, departmental, and enterprise goals
- Recommend and implement IT solutions, equipment configurations, and process improvements to enhance laboratory operations
- Support the selection, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of laboratory analyzers, instruments, and related IT infrastructure
- Review vendor device specifications to ensure compatibility with enterprise security, networking, and operational requirements
- Lead major incident response and provide tertiary support for complex IT incidents
- Collaborate with leadership on budget planning, staffing projections, and resource prioritization
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, device security, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
- 7 or more years of professional experience within a large hospital system
- Progressive experience supporting IT systems, laboratory systems, or healthcare technology operations
- Proven experience supervising, training, or leading technical or operational staff
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, clinical staff, faculty, and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Pathology, laboratory medicine, or clinical informatics
- Familiarity with Lean principles or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with ServiceNow administration or similar ticketing/workflow platforms
- Experience supporting LIS/LIMS systems, middleware, or networked laboratory devices
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, or The Joint Commission
