About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct administrative and regulatory pre-reviews of IRB submissions, including new protocols, amendments, and continuing reviews
  • Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and student researchers regarding IRB processes and submission requirements
  • Assist in preparing IRB meeting materials, including agendas, protocol assignments, and detailed meeting minutes
  • Support the coordination of single IRB (sIRB) reliance agreements and track data use agreements (DUAs)
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Common Rule (45 CFR 46), HIPAA, and institutional policies
  • Contribute to the development of IRB guidance materials, website content, and training resources
  • Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities to ensure regulatory compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, biomedical sciences, research administration, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of human subjects research protections and applicable regulations (e.g., Common Rule, HIPAA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an IRB office or human subjects protection program
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supporting IRB operations, including protocol review or multi-site research coordination
  • Familiarity with electronic research administration systems
