About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the protection of technical inventions in Europe through patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation strategies
- Assist in licensing efforts, particularly for standard-essential patents (SEPs), by identifying licensees and negotiating agreements
- Support IP litigation campaigns before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), German Courts, and UK Courts
- Represent Huawei's interests at international or regional conferences and workshops
- Build a strong patent portfolio by reviewing patent applications and defending against nullity attacks
- Provide legal and IP support for industrial activities, including standard setting organizations and open-source associations
Requirements
- Law degree (1st/2nd State Examination, Diploma, or Master)
- Admission as an Attorney-at-Law in an EU member state or the UK
- At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or as in-house legal counsel in Europe
- Proficiency in English (C1) and German (C1)
- Strong technical and commercial understanding of ICT and telecommunications technologies and related patents
- Ability to travel internationally and work effectively in a multinational, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and licensing projects
- Specific expertise regarding standard essential patents (SEPs) and FRAND-related matters
