Investment Operations Team Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operational activities of the Investment Operations team, including mentoring and developing specialists.
• Oversee the full investment lifecycle across listed, OTC, unlisted, fixed income, and credit instruments.
• Own operational oversight of the trade lifecycle, including pre-trade readiness, trade support, and post-trade activities.
• Manage settlement monitoring and ensure timely resolution of trade failures.
• Coordinate valuations, reconciliations, and operational controls for OTC instruments and infrastructure assets.
• Lead operational execution for new fund launches, mandate transitions, and fund closures.
• Manage the operational relationship with Prescient Fund Services (PFS), overseeing NAV reviews and reconciliations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives to drive operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and support audit processes.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience within Investment Operations, Fund Administration, or Asset Management Operations.
• Strong operational expertise in fixed income, including bonds, money market, and credit instruments.
• Proven experience with OTC derivatives and unlisted investment operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing fund launches, mandate transitions, or complex onboarding projects.
• Previous experience in a supervisory, mentoring, or team leadership capacity.
• Experience working within the South African asset management environment.
• Experience working with outsourced fund administration models.

Preferred Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Investments, Economics, Commerce, or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualifications in investment or financial markets.
• Industry certifications relating to investment operations or fund administration.
