Responsibilities

  • Investigate potential violations of NYC worker protection laws
  • Interview workers, employers, and witnesses by phone and in person
  • Review and analyze policies, payroll records, schedules, time records, and other evidence
  • Research public sources, law enforcement databases, and investigative tools
  • Write investigation reports, findings letters, and settlement agreements
  • Calculate wages owed and civil penalties
  • Negotiate resolutions with businesses and attorneys
  • Testify at administrative hearings when needed
  • Manage a high volume of cases and escalate complex issues appropriately

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years of investigative or inspection experience, or a baccalaureate degree
  • Equivalent education and experience combinations accepted
  • Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
  • Ability to conduct field and desk investigations
