About the role
Responsibilities
- Investigate potential violations of NYC worker protection laws
- Interview workers, employers, and witnesses by phone and in person
- Review and analyze policies, payroll records, schedules, time records, and other evidence
- Research public sources, law enforcement databases, and investigative tools
- Write investigation reports, findings letters, and settlement agreements
- Calculate wages owed and civil penalties
- Negotiate resolutions with businesses and attorneys
- Testify at administrative hearings when needed
- Manage a high volume of cases and escalate complex issues appropriately
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years of investigative or inspection experience, or a baccalaureate degree
- Equivalent education and experience combinations accepted
- Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
- Ability to conduct field and desk investigations
