Investigator

Responsibilities

For the Body-Worn Camera Unit:

• Analyze and intake requests for NYPD body-worn camera footage from the public and government agencies
• Utilize NYPD systems and applications to process and investigate requests
• Examine footage and apply appropriate redactions and edits per laws and policies
• Report video review results to unit supervisors

For the Subpoena Litigation Unit:

• Analyze and intake subpoenas, court orders, and outside agency requests for NYPD records
• Utilize NYPD systems and applications to assist in processing and investigation
• Examine responsive records and apply appropriate redactions in accordance with laws
• Report results of searches and record reviews to unit supervisors

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of satisfactory full-time investigative experience
• OR an associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college
• OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be permanent in the Investigator title or have passed civil service exam (Exam No. 2083)
