About the Company

The Nassau County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes violations of state and local criminal statutes occurring within Nassau County. Situated on Long Island, the office is one of the largest district attorney's offices in the country and is dedicated to constant philosophical and technological modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate intelligence-gathering activity with the assistant district attorney staff to maximize productivity
  • Advise investigators of recent court decisions, legislative enactments, and evidentiary requirements
  • Consult with Assistant District Attorneys regarding new equipment and technologies for specific cases
  • Develop new methods and procedures to enhance investigative efficiency
  • Serve as a liaison between the investigative and legal staff
  • Coordinate the dissemination of intelligence data collected from informants and law enforcement sources
  • Assist in the preparation of individual cases in coordination with Assistant District Attorneys
  • Prepare reports and participate in arrests, arraignment proceedings, and court testimony
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of investigative techniques and electronic aides

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field
  • Four years of experience in specialized investigation of syndicated organized crime (narcotics, gambling, bookmaking, loansharking, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic rules of evidence and applicable statutes
  • Skill in ascertaining facts through personal contact, observation, and record examination
  • Skill in the use and care of firearms and unarmed defense
  • Ability to use technical investigative equipment and prepare detailed reports
  • Ability to testify effectively in court

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge relating to syndicated organized crime and its connections
