Intramural and Recreational Sports Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and enhancement of the intramural sports program through league operations and participant engagement
• Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and mentor approximately 40 student employees, including officials and marketing staff
• Serve as the primary lead for assigned intramural sport leagues, tournaments, and special events
• Oversee facility preparation, equipment management, and operational readiness for all scheduled activities
• Coordinate and promote programs through print, digital, and social media marketing, including creating graphics and videos
• Support administrative functions such as league scheduling, program assessment, and operational planning
• Enforce departmental policies, procedures, and risk management practices to ensure a safe environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Education, Business, or a related field
• Knowledge of intramural sports rules, policies, and current trends
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proven organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness of safety and risk management concerns

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with officiating, intramural sports, event management, or campus recreation
• Proficiency with graphic or video editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, or CapCut
• Familiarity with IMLeagues or other recreation management software

Benefits

• 10-month full-time internship position (August through May)
• Annual stipend of $25,200
