Internship Trades Program

Responsibilities

• Receive on-the-job training in the operation of wastewater and water treatment plants
• Assist in reading meters and gauges to monitor equipment efficiency and record data
• Support water quality testing, laboratory operations, and chemical usage safety
• Assist in diagnosing and correcting equipment malfunctions and resetting control systems
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, clean tanks, and maintain facilities and grounds
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to plant operations
• Operate vehicles to travel between various Agency facilities as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies
• Major in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field
• Valid California driver's license and ability to maintain insurability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or interest in Wastewater/Water Treatment Technology
• Possession of a California Wastewater Treatment Operator Operator-in-Training certification or higher
