About the role

Responsibilities

  • Advise leadership on U.S., Mexico, and Canada import/export regulations and compliance
  • Optimize product classification, HTS codes, and USMCA preferential trade treatment
  • Develop and maintain import/export compliance procedures and documentation
  • Monitor changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements
  • Improve logistics processes for shipments from the U.S. into Mexico and Canada
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL providers
  • Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and transit times
  • Establish KPI reporting and performance management for logistics operations
  • Lead logistics improvement initiatives, including SOPs and training materials
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance
  • Advise on international expansion, distribution models, and fulfillment strategies
  • Assist in evaluating trade management systems and logistics platforms

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in international trade, customs compliance, or logistics
  • Deep knowledge of USMCA and U.S. exports to Mexico and Canada
  • Experience with hardware, industrial equipment, or technology products
  • Proven success in high-growth or mature supply chain environments
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding and customs brokerage
  • Ability to translate complex trade requirements into scalable processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or equivalent trade certification
  • Experience with Mexico IMMEX programs or maquiladora operations
  • Familiarity with ERP, TMS, and global trade management systems
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
