About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1/M-1 international students in flight training programs
- Maintain SEVIS records and ensure compliance with federal immigration regulations
- Advise students on immigration requirements, including enrollment, program extensions, and employment authorizations (CPT, OPT, STEM OPT)
- Monitor flight training progression and coordinate with Flight Operations to align training with visa requirements
- Process DSO requests related to maintaining and restoring student status
- Develop specialized resources for international flight students and track off-campus flight training activities
- Support ISSS operations, including international student orientation and SEVIS registration activities
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's degree in aviation, international education, or student services preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in international student services, advising, or flight-related academic environments
- Experience working with F-1 international students and SEVIS systems
- Eligibility to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO)
- Strong understanding of F-1/M-1 visa regulations and ability to interpret complex regulatory guidance
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural advising skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with flight training structures, FAA regulations, or aviation education
- Experience working in aviation-based academic programs or flight training environments
