Intern - Welding Processes CFD

Responsibilities

• Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling of metallic weld processes
• Support the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing team under the ESSCA contract
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to related technical tasks
• Participate in MSFC facility tours, technical talks, and professional training sessions
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists on hardware development and modeling simulations

Requirements

• Enrolled in a university or college program leading to a BS in engineering or a related field
• Previous coursework or experience in materials engineering
• Previous coursework or experience in metallic welding, materials melting/solidification, or adjacent processes
• Previous coursework or experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Ability to commute to the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL (on-site)
• Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous aerospace or NASA-related experience
• Demonstrated interest in NASA’s mission
