About the role
Responsibilities
- Support research and development in chemistry, materials science, and advanced manufacturing
- Assist with chemical and materials synthesis, characterization, and precursor development
- Contribute to projects involving nanomaterials and ceramics for extreme environments
- Support mechanical and electrical design and characterization for additive manufacturing processes
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to support various national security technical programs
Requirements
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program
- Pursuing a major in science, engineering, or mathematics
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, asylee, or refugee
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate coursework in materials science, chemistry, or electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering
- Additional laboratory experience in physics or engineering disciplines
- Experience with technical software for data collection, modeling, or automated research
- Strong oral and written communication skills for preparing reports and presentations
