Intern, R&D Undergraduate

Responsibilities

• Support research and development in chemistry, materials science, and advanced manufacturing
• Assist with chemical and materials synthesis, characterization, and precursor development
• Contribute to projects involving nanomaterials and ceramics for extreme environments
• Support mechanical and electrical design and characterization for additive manufacturing processes
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to support various national security technical programs

Requirements

• Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program
• Pursuing a major in science, engineering, or mathematics
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, asylee, or refugee

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate coursework in materials science, chemistry, or electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering
• Additional laboratory experience in physics or engineering disciplines
• Experience with technical software for data collection, modeling, or automated research
• Strong oral and written communication skills for preparing reports and presentations
