Intern, Invertebrate Pest Biology

Responsibilities

• Assist Scientists in the setting up and execution of experiments, ranging from early-stage screening to routine Quality Control testing
• Maintain multiple insect species through diet preparation, egg collection, cage maintenance, and routine monitoring
• Prepare materials for bioassays and assist in setting up in vitro and in planta bioassays to evaluate insecticidal candidates
• Record data and results in an organized fashion
• Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory and greenhouse, including glassware, growing containers, and benches

Requirements

• Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (emphasis in entomology, nematology, or plant pathology preferred)
• Hands-on lab and greenhouse experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally
• Commitment to work at least 10-15 hours per week during the school year
