Intern (Groundwater Recharge)

Responsibilities

• Assist Groundwater Recharge operations with water sampling from streams, pipelines, wells, and lysimeters
• Collect and evaluate field data, including reading staff gauges, measuring stream flow, and conducting basin inspections
• Perform field data collection in various weather conditions, including walking on unimproved slopes and wet surfaces
• Coordinate with laboratories, organize sampling priorities, and follow strict protocols to meet deadlines
• Compile, review, and graph data using spreadsheets and other software to assist in report preparation
• Conduct inspections of basins, diversions, and monitoring stations, and participate in their upkeep
• Deploy and download remote data collection equipment and provide site condition photo-documentation
• Assist with professional administrative and technical work on special projects, such as researching topics and drafting protocols

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current enrollment in or graduation from an undergraduate or graduate program in physical sciences (e.g., Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences)
• Valid California Class C driver's license
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with computers and modern office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Ability to lift and load full sample coolers weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior related work knowledge or experience in hydrogeology or water sampling

Our Groundwater Recharge team manages a network of streams and pipelines across a 245-square-mile service area to enhance and preserve the quality of life throughout the region.
