Intermediate Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform systems analysis, design, integration, testing, implementation, and maintenance for enterprise applications
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC with emphasis on planning, analysis, IV&V, and DT&E
• Support DFAS mainframe-based civilian payroll system operations
• Monitor production jobs and ABEND codes using TSO, ISPF, SDSF, and JES
• Analyze and action system change requests and maintain configuration management documentation
• Participate in COOP testing and enhancement activities
• Collaborate with developers, testers, and stakeholders to support project objectives

Requirements

• 2–3 years hands-on experience with requirements analysis, software design, IDMS, and COBOL
• Active Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and SDLC processes

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience with JCL, system-to-system interfaces, Oracle, COGNOS, and JavaScript
• Experience with Broadcom Endevor, REXX, and z/OS mainframe tools (TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JES)
• Familiarity with PVCS, Enterprise Architect, and Assembler programming
• Experience with governmental accounting or financial systems (e.g., civilian payroll)
• Exposure to 24/7 production mainframe operations or on-call support
• Familiarity with DoD/DFAS security requirements and CAC-enabled environments
